Each character also has a unique “path action,” which is a specific way for the player to have the corresponding character interact with non-player characters in the game, frequently with the goal of obtaining rewards or characters to fight in support of their cause. The player controls one of eight different characters, each of whom has a distinct goal for navigating the game world. The gameplay is typical of a JRPG, much like the original Octopath Traveler.
